Today was my first day! Anna was showing me some of the projects she has been working on and explaining the basic fundamentals of what she does. Later, I sat in on a meeting with two realtors about a house remodel and whether it is worth it to the home-owners to perform such a large remodel.

Today Anna and I discussed the project that I would be doing over the mentorship. Then I started doing house plan layouts and picking out certain pieces for the bathroom.

Anna filled me in on all her current projects. She showed me some floor plans and furniture pieces she is going to show a client. Next I worked on my own design project. Later on, we went to a tile showroom called Rubble Tile. Anna explained to me the different styles and materials. We were looking at what is new in the tile world!

Fun day! I got to meet one of Anna's clients today. We went back to the tile showroom to meet up with the client to choose tiles for the remodel. It was interesting to see Anna interact with a client and see how that relationship works. Then we went to the client's home and took measurements of all the rooms. It was cool to get a taste of a real project.

Anna showed my how to draw proportionate scales of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. It is convenient to be able to use a handy ruler that converts everything for you. Also, for my project I brainstormed ideas for the kitchen design. At the end we took at trip to Office Max for work related supplies! Yay for field trips!

I drew to scale the house plans of a project that Anna was working on. On graph paper, I neatly sketched out the house plan of the entire home. Later, we worked on my project.

I visited two showrooms today! We first went to a stone showroom called Stone Holding. It is a big warehouse type space that holds large sheets of different stones from countries all over the world. They were so stunning! Then we went to a hardware showroom called Nob Hill. There were knobs of all sorts! Quite awesome to see so many options!

I worked on my project the whole time! I worked on the selections spreadsheet; picking out all of the pieces that are going to be included in my client's home.

Anna and I went to see and meet with the previous homeowner that we met with at the tile showroom. We went to her home to see all the new things that were installed. It was fun to see the progress of the project.

I worked more on my project. I continued to pick out things for my selections spreadsheet and gather things together that will be included in my final project.

Apr. 3rd, 2013

I typed my finishes reflection for my project. I printed out pictures for my finishes board. I fabricated emails to signify the communication between myself and the client.

Apr. 10th, 2013

I began to design the layout of my finishes board for my project. I printed out images of the different pieces in the home I chose, cut them out and planned out the presentation of the board.

Apr. 17th, 2013

I am almost done with my project! Today I glued every thing down on my board. Also, I worked on the progress report which is a form signifying the costs of the entire project.

I am finished with my project! Yes, I am finally finished. I enjoyed the project in terms of getting a real and true in depth sense of the workings of a project. It was a learning experience for me. I am excited to do something else with Anna for the next month or so. Will be interesting.

I organized and printed out images of wallpaper choices for Anna's client. I also began to help Anna construct a miniature model of a table that she has designed for a client. It is an amazing tree table that is organic and has a natural beauty form to it.
